My name is Rachel, over 15 years engaged in Dementia Care:
Accompanying adults dealing with a physical, emotional or cognitive disability (dementia) - within the framework of "Household Companionship".
Throughout the sessions, I create a meaningful connection with the adult, through conversation - verbal and non-verbal communication, personalized activity and relaxation techniques.
The activity exercises existing abilities, awakens dormant skills, restores content and meaning to life, strengthens the sense of self-worth, and the willingness to face the challenges of age. The connection created prevents and slows down accelerated deterioration, and reduces emotional symptoms of dementia - which arise from a feeling of loneliness and a need for a meaningful connection.
